Minnesota Air Quality App
In the spring of 2021, the Biostatistics Community Outreach and Engagement Committee at the University of Minnesota partnered with St. Paul Public Schools to develop a Shiny app that allows students to use data to explore and formulate research questions about air quality in their community. Our app uses data from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (linked here) that were collected from monitoring sites around the state from 2015 to 2020. Users can investigate relationships between air quality and various temporal and fixed effects, including season and distance to nearest highway or power plant. Check out our app here!
If you are interested in partnering with our committee to bring this app to your classroom, please reach out to me at samor007 at umn dot edu. If you are interested in reading news coverage of our work, check out the article linked here.
